Tulfes in Tyrol Austria to the Traunsteiner Christkindlmarkt

Our double, ensuite room, with balcony was quiet, comfortable and adequate.  Since we were not able to dine downstairs last night and could not find another restaurant in this small town, we are anxious for breakfast.

Gasthof Neuwirt Dining Room

We have a typical Austrian breakfast served at our table in the lovely pinewood dining room.

View from Balcony

Standing on our balcony, we have beautiful views of the alps surrounding us.  This is a ski area that will soon be bustling with holiday skiers.

During my walk last night, I saw a roadside display for a store selling schnaps.  We decided to stop for an hour or so and enjoy a few tastings and lots of purchasing.  Tuxerbauer is a 4th generation shop that produces their own schnaps, apfelsaft (apple cider), bauernbrot, kase (alp cheese), marmelade and many varieties of venison sausage/meat.

Their many flavors of schnaps was overwhelming and delicious--peach, apple and cranberry were just a few.  What won us over was, of course, the chocolate and hazelnut liquor.  As we pulled out of our parking space, we see a deer hanging on the side of the wood shed next to the Christmas trees for sale.

We are now back on the autobahn headed to Salzburg.  It is actually not snowing today and none is expected for the next two days. It is a beautiful sunny day with lovely views of the mountains around us.

Love McCafe!!

We make a quick stop at a McCafe for a cappuccino.  Utilizing their Ipads and the free internet, we find out there is a Christmas Market in the nearby small town of Traunstein.

It is a cute market set in front of the church and has about 30 booths.  Enjoying our mug of gluhwein, we also purchase red wax ornaments.

I have never seen these at a market.  It was a nice stop on our way to Salzburg.
